COURSE

Distances may change, and we may add more unique CE elements for 2008. But, for now here is the course description.

2008 Course Map!

Swim:  1,000 meter open water swim in the headwaters of the crystal clear Nueces River. You will begin by running in 3-4 feet of water until you are swimming. You will continue on the out and back section until you go past the start line going the opposite direction through the swim lane. You will then climb up the fixed ladders on the dam, dive into the upper River, make a loop around the Water Park and make your way up the rock ledges to the T.A.

Bike:  Mountain bike on 10 miles (16 km) of carefully designed 90% single-track dirt and rock.  Mostly shaded with beginner, intermediate and expert sections included in the single loop. You will get to experience Camp Eagle elements such as the shaded trails, the overlook, suspension bridge, under the flyover, caliche pit, the canyon, dried river beds, cliff-edge climbs, descents, and more memories than you can shake a stick at. If you are a novice, come on, you can always get off and enjoy the hairy parts with your feet on the ground!

Run:  This section is one nice 4-mile loop varying from single track, rocky jeep trails, shallow water crossings, and our new section of single track bridge next to the river cliff.  The finishing section is unlike anything you have ever seen. The run course is full of surprises and will have your smiling the whole way (even in the midst of the pain of racing)!

AID STATIONS

We go overboard on these, you’ll even have them all over the bike section. You’ll get to take in Water, Gatorade, GU, Fruit, etc.

MEDICAL

We will have a full staff of Wilderness First Responders stationed all over the course, a fully-equipped Nurse’s Station, plus access to MedFlight. You’ll be taken care of out here.
